A "Delicate" situation

Friday morning, I took Hannah to Direct Care due to a fever and sore throat. I let her bring Dinky, her favorite stuffed animal (an elephant) to snuggle with. The doctor swabbed Dinky's throat first, then Hannah's which was obviously not well received. After 2 hours there, we were on our way to get her antibiotic and go home. I told her later that we would need to give Dinky a bath in a day or so to get the strep throat germs off of him. When it was time for him to go in the washer she said, "Mama, can you please put it on delicate?" Of course, I honored her sweet request. When she pulled him out of the dryer, he "told" her that he felt better after having a bath, but he was a little dizzy from the dryer!

Love hurts...

Hannah has had an exciting few days. Her friend Drew and his family came over for dinner Saturday night. Hannah had made a Valentine for Drew and one for his little sister Jenae. Drew's was an astronaut on a rocket (he's really into space and astronauts.) He brought one for her that had a picture of a horse in it. He wrote "I love you Hannah!" on it. His mom told him those were pretty strong words, but he insisted. He told her not too long ago that he was going to marry Hannah when they grow up. Her response was that they could talk in about 20 years. While they were here Drew busted his lip, then proceded to puncture the ice bag Hannah got for him and drank a little of the blue stuff out of it. We were praying the poor kid didn't get sick from it. Today at school, Drew told Hannah that she was his girlfriend. My strong willed child apparently just melted and said "OK! If I'm your girlfriend then that makes you my boyfriend!" We had to talk to her about him being a boy that is her friend, but she is too young to have a boyfriend. And so it begins.....

Hannah's Baptism

We have had a busy, but wonderful weekend. Hannah had a dance rehearsal Saturday morning to prepare for a performance at Tuesday's Varsity basketball game, the sweetheart ball Saturday night and she was baptized this morning, followed by a lunch in her honor at Nanny and Papa's house. Last night when she and Ky got home, she called my mom and Ky's mom to tell them all about it. She said "It was better than Cinderella's ball! I'm just so excited I can't quit talking!" As if that were something new!
She was so excited about getting baptized she couldn't even stand still. Once she got changed into her white robe, she kept walking out behind the baptistry asking me how much longer. Then she danced (our little bapticostal) and sang while the choir sang and thought it was really cool that she could see Mr. Buck in his chest waders on the other side of the baptistry. It took her a while to get down the stairs when he motioned for her but she did great! I was so proud of her especially because that was the first time she had intentionally put her head under water. We are also thankful that her eardrum healed in time. She had her tubes taken out and there was a chance that they wouldn't heal over on their own. God is good!
I have attached a video of the baptism. You will have to pause the music player at the bottom of the web page and you may need to turn the sound up on your computer. Tom's voice carries pretty well, but we are back row baptists, so it was recorded from the back of the church.

Cinderella goes to the ball

Ky and Hannah just left for the Sweetheart Ball, a daddy/daughter dance at Hannah's school. She looked so pretty in her fancy dress and she was so excited about her rose corsage. She couldn't believe they were real flowers! (It seems that we use entirely too many silk flowers.)She has been practicing dances at school during PE. Coach Bateman taught them the chicken dance, the party line, YMCA, and some moves to We Will Rock You. She has been looking forward to this for weeks. They decorated her school with red and white lights and the kids got to make hearts with their names on them that they put on the wall. Moms are not allowed since it's for dads and daughters (the one for mothers and sons is later this evening) so..... what to do with the house to myself for an hour and a half. Hmmmmmm.....maybe a cup of hot tea and a soak in the hot tub.
